PostgreSQL
The database when it matters. Two of the kits start on SQLite and move when they earn.
Job Lab runs on PostgreSQL from the first minute: 54 tables under Drizzle, with the settings, the email log, the AI usage and the security events all in the same database. Local Lab and Launch Lab start on a single SQLite file, which is why they install with no setup, and switch to PostgreSQL by setting one connection string. Both ship a script that copies a SQLite site into Postgres.
Schema changes are migrations in all three. Launch Lab runs its 12 at start-up under a lock, Local Lab has 37 and runs them through its deploy script, Job Lab keeps its schema in Drizzle and pushes it on deploy. The multi-site deploy scripts give every site its own database in one shared Postgres container.
Worth knowing#
A directory on SQLite is fine for a long time. Move to PostgreSQL when you run several sites on one server, or when writes get busy.
Job Lab needs PostgreSQL and a connection string; it is the one setting with no default.
