Meilisearch

A job board is a search box. Job Lab indexes every live job in Meilisearch, searchable by title, skills, role, company, description and location and filterable by salary, type, remote, level and more. The admin tunes ranking rules, synonyms, stop words and typo tolerance from a page. The index is kept fresh by a background queue and checked for a rebuild every night.

It runs as a container beside the app, so there is no search-as-a-service bill. Each site on a shared server gets its own index name.

Worth knowing#

• If Meilisearch is down, search falls back to PostgreSQL: it still returns results, without ranking or typo tolerance, and the health check flags it.

• Backups skip the index on purpose, because it can be rebuilt from the database.
