Why it is in the kits

Job Lab reads jobs in from eight kinds of source: RSS, JSON APIs, XML feeds, Adzuna, Remotive, Arbeitnow, a custom scraper and a company's own career page. Twenty presets cover the aggregators (five need no key, six need a free one) and the applicant-tracking systems companies publish from: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Workable, Workday and Teamtailor. Point it at a company's careers page and it works out which of those it uses.

Every job goes through a fourteen-step pipeline before it is live: fetch, normalise, decide if it is remote, apply the board's scope, dedupe against everything already live, sanitise the HTML, parse the location, find or create the company, check the salary, set an expiry, infer seniority, run the moderation rules, tag skills and roles, and index it. Sources that keep failing switch themselves off.

Outbound, the board publishes its own RSS and JSON feeds with filters, so other boards and aggregators can carry your jobs.

Worth knowing#

  • Each source's API key is stored with that source, not in the integrations page.

  • Fetches are guarded against reaching private network addresses, which matters on a shared server.
